About Me
My name is Laura and I've been married for 27 years to my high school sweetheart. I've been a stay-at-home mom for 14 years with our three sons, ages 19, 17, and 8.
I'm a California gal. But deep down I think I'm a southern gal at heart... I love the movie classic Gone With The Wind...I know...you probably think it's corny, but ask my mom how many times I watched it when I was young and used to sketch Southern belle dresses, and I appreciate the needful things that are antique and vintage. I think it's the coolest thing when you have an antique piece that someone owned and used so many years ago.
I began crafting and sewing 10 years ago. Aside from a sewing class in 7th grade, I am self taught. I love, and very much admire, handmade quilts. My youngest son, Jack, and I love pumpkins and Jack-o-lanterns in the fall...that's how I came upon the name..."The Quilted Pumpkin."
I cut, stitch and craft a "patchwork" of seasonal and holiday decor for the home. I make fabric- and wood-crafted decor using a variety of crafting and finishing techniques. I sell my items at local boutiques and craft shows, by word of mouth, my Etsy shop, and, finally, my own website!
Although it may cost a bit more, for quality reasons I always use quilt shop fabric in my projects. Therefore, I guess you might call me a "fabric snob." : ) Also, I admit to being a "fabric addict"...I can never have too much fabric! (I've been known to sneak a bag of fabric in when my husband's been asleep...sssshhh!)
I am inspired by primitive, vintage, folk art, timeworn, and whimsical designs. It is challenging for me to craft and sew in a specific genre, so I may have eclecticism!
I take care in the quality and detail of my work. To ensure this, each piece is crafted or sewn by me. I make only a few items at a time so they're not rushed and because they are handmade, each piece will have its own uniqueness.
Besides the wonderful support of my family that allows me to continue in my crafty endeavors, what ultimately makes me happy is when an individual is happy and smiling while on their way home with one of my finished handmades!
